Turkey Trouble? Save the Turkey? Or Not? Are you ready for the most FUN and Engaging Thanksgiving Writing and Turkey in Disguise Project ever? Students will use their creativity and reasoning skills to write a Persuasive Letter and disguise their turkey so they may be saved from becoming Thanksgiving Dinner.

How It Works

Students will be given a letter from the Farmer explaining that Thanksgiving is approaching and they must convince the Farmer whether or not to eat them for Thanksgiving Dinner. Students will utilize Persuasive Writing Templates to develop and explain reasons for their claim.

This lesson is a great way to review the components of persuasive writing. It is also a great mini-project to display in your classroom or in the hallway during the month of November. You may also choose to have your students share their letters to the class in a "debate" style shareout. Every year, this activity is a hit with my students!
